Unusual early Preston Monongye bracelet with Zuni inlay. This is a fascinating early piece of Preston's work in the traditional Hopi style of overlay accompanied by inlay most likely done by a Zuni artist, many of which inlaid his work in those days. A guess could be Eddie Beyuka, but he is just one of the many it could be. The shape of the cuff is similar to the shape that Manuel Hoyungowa's cuffs had at the time when they both worked for Joe. I believe Manuel apprenticed with Preston during that time. |
