Inupiat figural sculpture made from whalebone rib that has washed up on the shores in Alaska owned by the Native people.  No two pieces are alike the colors depend on the minerals absorbed over hundreds to thousands of years lying on the ground or beaches.  Native carvers use the shape of bone to determine the subject of the carving so nothing goes to waste.  The community of Shishmaref is best known for these magnificent whalebone carvings.  This piece is signed  Weyiouanna, Jimmy 10.5" x 4"
