Phil Loretto Butterfly Songs Necklace
Price on Request

A true Masterpiece (ca 1983-4) by Cochiti/Jemez award winning artist and friend Phil Loretto (RIP).This piece was created for one of Phil's early clients and good friends.   They purchased many of his earlier pieces allowing him the time and freedom to be so creative in his thought and execution of his magnificent works of art.  Butterfly Songs features an intricately inlaid butterfly maiden centrally hanging on two strands of handmade sterling beads in various accented sizes, with inlaid on one side and stamped motif on back of each butterfly, dragonfly and fly which creates a great effect when worn.....23.5" plus a bit of a drape....bottom pendant measures 3" x 1.75" A small butterfly 1.75" pin also comes with necklace which can be worn anywhere as an accent piece.  Materials used are New Lander, pen shell from Hawaii, fossil walrus ivory, blue gem turquoise, abalone, coral from Italy and South China sea, gold mop and last but not least, Navajo Ruby!  This also comes with full description of piece and other enriching details from the creation of it and symbolism which is one of the most fun things about dealing with Phil over the years.....he takes you on a great journey!  This necklace and an interview with the artist is featured in the book "Totems to Turquoise" by Chalker, Dubin and Whiteley on page 206-7.  Said to have a blue ribbon, hope it will be sent soon to go with piece.  I'm happy to send more photos and price per request.
